[ BONNIE'S
BARGAINS OF THE MONTH ]
About Us
Hello!
My name is Bonnie Morrow and I am the owner of Bonnie's Cross Stitch
Zone. I first started cross stitching in 1987. My first attempt was a rather
ambitious project on 18 count Aida for my best friend's wedding - I have a
lifelong history of jumping into the deep end! Since then, I have not been able
to beat the "cross stitch bug".
The idea to start a cross stitch mail order business come to me after a
disappointing shopping trip to "the city" where I failed to find a simple white
baby bib to cross stitch for a friend's baby shower. While driving home, I kept
thinking, "Surely, I can't be the only one who is frustrated with never being
able to find the cross stitch supplies I need."
In April 1994, less than
two years later, Bonnie's Cross Stitch Zone was started in the basement of our
home in Terrace Bay, Ontario and in October of that year, we mailed out our
first catalogue.
Since then our business has expanded tremendously and we are serving the
needs of thousands of cross stitchers throughout North America, Europe and
other parts of the world. I have researched numerous cross stitch products and
have added the better ones to our line.
We continue to produce our catalogue on an annual basis and maintain our
web site. (I do all the design and layouts on my computer for both the
catalogue and the website.)
In l999, my husband Rich, my two daughters and I moved to Kamloops,
British Columbia and the business moved with us. Both Rich and I are native
BCer's and are happy to be back 'home'. I consider myself to be very fortunate
to work out of my home where I can combine my two great loves - cross stitch
and my family.
I look forward to making your cross stitching even more rewarding and
enjoyable.
Sincerely Yours,
Bonnie
P.S. Please let me know of anyway that we can be of service to you.

I recently received an e-mail suggesting I put some of the cross stitch
projects that I have stitched onto my website. I thought this was a pretty good
idea! So here are a few that I have finished with a little background
information. (Click on the thumbnail pictures to see a bigger image.)
 |
Angel of the Sea by Lavender & Lace This
is one of my favourites! Even though the Lavender & Lace angels look
complex, they are, in fact, quite easy to stitch. I really enjoyed stitching
this one! (One of the very few completed projects that I have kept for
myself!) |
 |
Arcadian Angel by Serendipity Designs Years
ago, when I first started this business, I had a couple of Serendipity Angel
kits in stock. One day, I had mentioned in passing that I should stitch these
angels for my two daughters. My daughters never forgot this and after
several years (and much hounding), I started stitching their angels. The
larger image is fairly big in file size but I wanted to show all the metallics
incorporated in it. Working with blending filament can be a pain but the
results are soooo worth it! (I am currently working on another angel for my
younger daughter. Not one of the original kits I had. Instead, a much
bigger one!) |
 |
Coca-Cola Santa Series #2 - Wherever I Go by Pegasus
Originals One of my best girlfriends collects Coca-Cola memorabilia. I
surprised her with this piece for her fortieth birthday. |
 |
This is one of the first projects that I stitched. In
fact, it was so long ago, I don't remember who made the pattern! (I believe it
is by Cross My Heart.) |
 |
Charles Craft Huck Towels My mother loves
roosters! As a surprise for her birthday, I stitched up a Huck Towel. (The
original pattern is from the Stoney Creek book "Heirloom Huck Towels". I
modified it to make it more personal.) On Mom's birthday, as the towel was
being passed around and admired, my father said (with a big schmirk on his
face), "This would make a great golf towel!" Dad's birthday is a little
less than a month's after Mom's. So, (you guessed it) he got a golf towel! I
turned the Huck Towel upside down and stitched a golf bag from the Jeanette
Crews Designs book "TGIF! Games People Play". I meant to put a big grommet on
the top to complete the golf towel but never had time to do it. (I was
stitching on the last of the back stitches during the birthday
celebration.) |
 |
A Merry Season by Shepherd's Bush I have
always adored Shepherd's Bush patterns! So simply and charming! When I first
received this pattern, I could not resist it and immediately ordered the
buttons to go with it. (The buttons are from Just Another Button Company and
are too adorable! A picture really does not give them justice.) Ornaments
from Christmas Tree Treasures by Stoney Creek (I really love this book!
So many great patterns in it!) I didn't have most of the charms that they used
in the book but just substituted whatever I had that fit. And they turned out
great! |
 |
Our Family's Heart by Stoney Creek
Collection Only the second project that I have ever kept for myself! I
love the rich colours used in Stoney Creek patterns. |
 |
Sea Life by Lanarte These were a lot of fun
to stitch!! They are going into my main bathroom which is done in a nautical
theme. |
